The Clover KDS (Kitchen Display System) is a specialized digital screen designed to survive in a hot, greasy commercial kitchen. It replaces the old-fashioned 'ticket printer' that spits out paper. The Hardware: It is a heat-resistant, anti-glare touchscreen (usually 14" or larger) encased in durable aluminum to withstand temperatures up to 122°F. The Function: Instead of a cook tearing off a paper slip and hanging it on a rail, the order pops up instantly on the screen. The 'Bump Bar': While it is a touchscreen, many kitchens add a physical keypad (called a 'bump bar') so cooks can clear orders with greasy hands without touching the glass.
